Viva Mexico

Tarantulas, sunburn, chocolate & cultural traditions!

Hello Guys,

As some of you may have known, we escaped for a week. I can’t believe it was only a week ago we came back, crazy how fast time goes. You were and are all asking about the trip, so I have written this mini-blog to tell you about it before I do specific elements of the trip.

It started well…..

  • We overslept for the flight out (still made it with plenty of time due to the queues)

  • I got sunburnt (badly) within 3/4 hours with an SPF 30 that was supposed to last 10 hours

  • I got stung by fire ants

  • I was covered in mosquito bites & prickly heat

  • We encountered a tarantula and other smaller spiders that I didn't want to get friendly with

  • Waited for a tour that didn't turn up

  • The tour refused to refund and claimed they came

BUT…. honestly, I don't care about all that stuff!

  • We encountered amazing, friendly & interesting people

  • Delicious food

  • Unlimited drinks!

  • Experienced so much culture

  • Were lucky enough to learn more about the Mayans by experiencing:

  • A historical City & Temples

  • A traditional village & meeting 4 generations

  • Sampling some tasty goodies

  • Visited a rainforest & Jungle

  • Made chocolate the traditional Mayan way using nothing but volcanic rock, beans, and the original spices

  • Encountered a Mayan blessing

  • Swam in an underground Cenote (avoiding said tarantula)

  • Fell in love with lots of wildlife

Plus so much more, so the only thing I HAD to be sad about was...

Missing my furry sidekick & all of you guys!

I'm so thankful & grateful to have been able to go on such an amazing adventure.

Kxx
